Meet Jaime
A Lifetime of Service
Jaime Hickton is a dedicated attorney and advocate with almost two decades’ experience in criminal defense, family law and juvenile justice. A former union member raised in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, the only daughter in a blended family with six children, Jaime is the first in her immediate family to attend college and is proud to have put herself through law school. Her blue-collar upbringing instilled in her a strong work ethic and a relentless passion to fight for what’s right—a skill she now applies in her legal practice to protect children and help clients navigate complex legal challenges. As a wife and proud mother of three adopted children—two with special needs—Jaime has a profound understanding of the child welfare system. Fair, trusted and well tempered, Jaime has worn every hat in the courtroom and is ready to bring her experience to the bench.
Jaime earned her law degree from Duquesne University School of Law where she excelled as a member of the National Trial Team and was awarded “Best Summation” for her outstanding performance in the Buffalo-Niagara National Trial Competition. As a result of her trial advocacy excellence, she was inducted into The Order of the Barristers. It’s also worth noting that in order to afford law school and gain invaluable insight, Jaime worked full-time as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Westmoreland County, an experience that reflects her work ethic and informed her commitment to helping at-risk youth and families.
After law school, Jaime landed a spot as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Meagan Bilik-DeFazio in the Westmoreland County Court of Common Pleas. She then joined the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office as an ADA where she prosecuted child abuse and juvenile cases. During this time, Jaime handled an extensive daily docket, focused on helping children and families, prosecuted child abusers, worked with city, county and state law enforcement agencies, and honed her trial skills to ensure justice.
In 2020, Jaime transitioned into solo private practice at The Law Office of Jaime M. Hickton and later co-founded Hickton-Stein Law Group where she is a business owner and respected attorney specializing in criminal defense and family law. Throughout her career, Jaime has remained deeply committed to advocating for vulnerable populations, ensuring that they receive the support and resources they need to navigate difficult legal circumstances.
In 2021, Jaime was appointed by Governor Tom Wolf to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Committee, where she worked to improve the juvenile justice system to better meet the needs of children, families, and communities. She also serves as a Board Member for Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR) and Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania, where she advocates for survivors of sexual violence and works to promote access to reproductive healthcare, education and resources for women and families.
Jaime has been recognized as one of the Top 40 Under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers and is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and Pennsylvania Bar Association.
A wife, mother and dog mom, Jaime lives in Pittsburgh with her wife, their three adopted children and their golden retriever. Jaime is respected, tested and deeply experienced. Dedicated to fair, informed and sometimes tough decisions, Jaime has worn every hat in the courtroom and is running to bring her life’s work into service, reduce backlogs and ensure justice for all.
